In my spare time as a Software Engineer, I'm building this translator to help Fuzhounese speakers communicate.
Originally, it was a fun side project for my own family and friends, but I realized others could find it useful.
It's always been possible to build a translator for any language, but the limitation has always been resources.
A decent translator can take millions of accurate sentence pairs. Fuzhounese doesn't have the save level of resources as other languages (i.e. English, Spanish, Mandarin).
There's been attempts to create a Fuzhounese translator in the past, but they've all been limited by this. With advances in AI models and strategies. I'm hoping to make a reliable model.
